$5 Night Stand Makeover

$5 Night Stand Makeover

Twin-NightstandsI finished painting the flowers on Laelia’s night stands last week! I’m super happy with how they turned out. I’m thinking I’d like to add a more fuchia-y color at some point in the future, but I’ll see how it plays off the quilt (whenever I get to that… all the fabric is almost cut, and my sewing machine is set up on the kitchen table and it’s calling my name, but I have a HUGE list of things I can do before I sit down and sew! D: )

beforeNightStand_IP AfterPrePaint Angled-View Flower_details_1 Flower_details_2 Flower_details_3 Flower_details_4contact-PaperPainting the flowers was pretty straightforward and easy, and I took my inspiration from the wallpaper I love to be able to afford. :) Of course, I added some pretty contact paper in the drawers! I mixed the yellow paint from some leftover samples I had lying around. It’s just a mixture of two yellows and some white, and I didn’t have a way to capture the leftovers for marks later, so I guess I’m kinda screwed there…

I’m loving the way they play off the new rug in here (I’ll share better photos of that in another post)! Now I still have to:

  • paint the room (we’re going with BM horizon)
  • paint the bed (blue or white??!!)
  • sew the quilt
  • paint the closet
  • dye the curtains
  • paint the expedit
  • replace the dresser

… oh man!

These are beautiful and so special for her room! I have a chest that is looking out of place and I was considering painting. Did you use a special paint or primer?

  2. Looks awesome! I love that rug and saw on YHL that you found it on Rugs USA. Do you happen to have any more information on it? I’d love to track one down! Thanks!
