Laelia’s Second Birthday Sneak Peek

Laelia’s Second Birthday Sneak Peek

Well, I wanted to post Laelia’s birthday this week, but we have some more bad news on the photo-front! About one half of the photos I took, maybe more, are corrupt! We even BOUGHT some photo recovery software, which managed to recover some photos, but not the crucial ones. :( We’ve been in crazy “let’s try to repair these broken jpgs and raw files” mode for the last two days! So, while we’re taking time to see what we can do, I thought I post a few photos here as a preview (I posted some earlier on FB too). As Tyler’s birthday is this Saturday I should actually get started on crafts and shopping for it before it is the day-of and I have all these crazy ideas! So I will probably not be getting to the full second birthday post until next week now. :( Luckily, Andy Richards came through for me with some great photos again, so thank Goodness for that! (Also, hey Universe; enough with the photography sabotage, okay? Thanks! xoxo) And without further ado, here are some nice fat juicy photos! :) Continue Reading

Laelia Turns 2; Invites

Laelia Turns 2; Invites

This is the result of my second shoot of this project because my first photos were lost when my camera was stolen. I think the first shoot probably came out better, but I think I’m the only one who would notice the tiny differences, so there is that. :)

When designing these, I wanted to emphasize the number 2, and after working on it for a while and talking to Tyler about it, he came up with the idea of attaching a heart to the 2, which was a great touch. I used a coral pink gradient in the script-like font (buttermilk), and then I did steps of different shades of pinks with the shapes. The shapes were not intentionally inspired by Mary Blair, but it certainly has her vibe! I also stepped the shades of pink and the weight of the font in our address and the date and time, to emphasize the “ombré” effect (although, technically ombré is a dying effect that has a seamless gradient). I added gold touches to the invite with a gold paint pen, and the envelope lining, which was of course, just gold wrapping paper! I stuffed confetti in the envelope so that when the invite arrived, there was a burst of fun confetti! :)
